Supporting the deaf

My sisters and I coordinated with “The Deaf Regional of Central in Thailand” in designing and producing face masks for the deaf to communicate. The only difference from a normal mask is a transparent plastic rectangle made from EVA material which is eco friendly and it is bio-degradable. So, the mouth is visible. This allows deaf people to lip read. We plan to send 200 units of face masks to the deaf by the end of the week!

Deaf people can neither hear nor talk, making lip reading - along with sign language - the only way they can communicate. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of face masks makes it impossible for people’s lips to be seen.

To tackle this, I decided to initiate the “Sharing to the Deaf” project where I made specially designed face masks that had transparent lip slots. I distributed these to the Rama IX bridge community, where the people raised their hands to gesture “I LOVE YOU.” These moments drive me forward to help communities in need!

About Me

My name is Mark, and I am the leader of this project. Even though I am still a high school student, nothing can stop my life-long passion and dream of becoming a smart farmer. I am always dedicated, inquisitive, and motivated to achieve my ultimate goal of creating a sustainable economy and uplift the living standard of people in my hometown. I wrote and published a book titled "ข้าวใจ - Paddy Patters: The Heartbeat of Thailand," which narrates my personal experience regarding the local planting process and the introduction of an innovative business model to increase farming efficiency and revenue. I hope that my story on this website will help many of you reflect on yourself and your community and determine ways to develop and optimize things around you, big or small.
